I have a neighbor, married them, quite often I hear people discuss and yelling, disrespecting an unprecedented manner. I find it uncomfortable indirect witness these little shortcomings. Bother me because I can get to hear this exchange of outbursts does not interest me at all. It bothers me to be a spectator, not only indirect but forced spectator of a scene from the privacy of others.
I have found it inconvenient to attend the exhibition as a reader of some dirt on the characters of the book. During most of Lifetime breathes a strange spirit of revenge. Revenge against the father, against the second wife of this, maybe somebody else. I say perhaps because the book, although he contends that it is a book of two (his father and him), gives the impression of being written for a wide circle about of people nearby.
Almost the entire first half of the story seems written from the perspective of a teenager hurt by not having the full attention of his father divorced his mother. On the other hand, the reader feels some embarrassment in certain passages that recount discrepancies, scuffles and scrapes very private. Count may be brave now, there is a risk that the reader interested in details not reach an intimacy so transferable.
In the second half, the story begins to have a body, it is becoming more acceptable to the reader, although details still appear unique to the environment of the writer. From this reading, in crescendo, is gaining interest. The new relationship with his father, reflections, doubts, guilt and shame that are still present in memory. The knowledge of every gesture, every tone of voice, every expression of his father. Love, in short, follows the story at times, that being a noble sentiment extrapolated to the reader's life, make even the gross details, but inevitable and necessary, material or financial aspect are more comparable and acceptable part of the reader.
" the night of 31, when falls the year, he is sitting in an armchair and I, at his side, standing. We both know that first toast to us and we will do so later the others, but goes time, which seems to me long before I do, a time in which we look. His eyes were wide and fixed on mine, and while I force a smile, I can not be as consistent as him. How Happy New Year wish he will not have it? "Marcos Giralt Torrente
